PTC General Body meeting was held at 11 am on 08/09/2018 in the MP Hall of JNV ,Neriamangalam .About 450 parents ,teaching and non teaching staff of JNV attended the meeting .The meeting was presided over by Mrs. Stella Hebzi Bai, Principal .The principal in her presidential address dealt in detail about various features of the school such as its Academic performance ,CCA ,Sports & Games , role of PTC for the smooth functioning of the school etc. Mr.Ashok Kumar & Mrs.Ruby Thomas the PTC members spoke about the developmental works executed by PTC 2017-18 in the JNV & sought the co-operation of all in future too for further progress. Later ,new PTC executive committee members for the year 2018-19 were elected.The program was compered by Mr.Sreekumar,TGT (Malayalam).PTC honoured the teacher members of PTC executive committee,Mr.Joseph PGT(History) and Mr.Baiju t Joseph,ECP for their immense contribution to the welfare of the school.The meeting concluded with vote of thanks by Mrs.Remani K,Vice-principal .

Teachers day was celebrated on 05/09/2018 at JNV ,Neriamangalam with vigour and grandeur .The day started with a special assembly .Student leaders honoured the Principal ,Vice Principal & other teachers by offering greeting cards & flowers. The student teachers played the role of teachers and took classes .The students enjoyed the classes & the performance of student teachers was monitored by a team of teachers. Evening there were friendly games organized for teaching and non teaching staff by class XII students .The day long celebrations ended on a positive note, strengthening the bond among the students & staff of JNV,Ernakulam .

The 72nd independence day was celebrated at JNV, Ernakulam with patriotic fervour.Braving the heavy rains beating down, the Vidyalaya had the flag hosting and stage programs as scheduled. All the staff and students participated with the real spirit of togetherness to renew their commitment to the cause of the nation.

JNV, Ernakulam was the venue to host the regional level football tournament for the 8 clusters of Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti from 08/08/2018 to 10/08/2018. 234 young footballer from eight clusters of Kerala,Karnataka,Andra Pradesh & Telangana participated in the three days long meet for earning a spot in the Hyderabad Regional team so as to take part in the National football tournament to be held at JNV Kokrajhar, Assam from 23/10/2018 to 25/10/2018. The opening ceremony was graced by the renowned Indian professional footballer & Kerala Blasters midfielder Mr. C K Vineeth. He inspired the students by his gracious presence and shared his success story of grit & determination, much to the delight of all. He patiently signed lots of autographs and posed for snaps with the adoring youngsters. The tournament had matches under three categories & Thrissur cluster emerged as the winner of under-14 & under-17 categories & Kannur cluster was the winner of under-19 category. Mr. Augustine Mathew , Circle Inspector of police, Kothamangalam was the guest of Honour at the valedictory function which was held on 10/08/2018.The best players and teams were honoured with trophies sponsored by Alumni. The meet was a memorable & joyful experience for all.


A plantation drive was undertaken in JNV Neriamangalam on 21 July 2018 as per the initiative of the Samiti. The programme helped students to get closer to nature and they participated enthusiastically feeling that they were contributing to the conservation of the environment. The students were desirous of reviving nature and making it flourish. It was also a great learning experience for students. Students felt calm and composed after spending some time in contact with the earth. It evoked feelings in students for plants. They hoped that in the future the plants would grow and beautify the campus.

BRIEF ABOUT THE EVENT JNV Ernakulam, Kerala is linked with JNV Ballia, Uttar Pradesh on migration. 20 students of Class IX of JNV Ballia have their one year study in JNV Ernakulam as a part of promotion of national integration and cultural exchange. They mingle with Keralites, learn about the culture, customs, tradition, food habits and the rich heritage of Kerala. This has helped both the native and the migrated students to imbibe the innate chord of binding and brotherhood. The Kerala students have also come to know of the diverse features of the land and culture of the UP students and learned to appreciate the diversity of India. This has helped them to foster a common identity and develop the spirit of nation building through such cross -cultural interactions. REPORT OF THE EVENT The theme allotted to JNV Ernakulam in the first quarter for the implementation of “EkBharathShresthaBharath” was “Promotion of Home stay culture”. The Vidyalaya has adopted a systematic strategy for successful implementation of the same. The migrated students have been given a warm reception on their arrival at JNV Ernakulam by the entire school and they were made to feel at home during their stay in Kerala. They have learnt Malayalam, could read and speak the Kerala language and have made friends with many Keralites. Their mixed-up stay in the dormitories and mixed-up seating in the classroom and dining hall have enabled them to shed the inhibitions and get along well. They were in the thick of all major events in the culture, food habits and the way of life in Kerala. JNV Ernakulam was enthralled and benefitted by the wonderful programme organized by Ministry of Human Resource Development on Exam related issues spearheaded by Shri.Narendra Modi, the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India on 16.02.2018. The programme started at 12’o clock with an introduction by Shri.Prakash Javadekar, the Hon’ble Minister of MHRD and followed by a fruitful and effective interaction of the Prime Minister of India with students from various corners of the Nation. Earlier, JNV Ernakulam has registered and posted 20 questions collected from our students on the site www.mygov.in. Many questions in the similar line were raised by the participants. The programme was attended by all students of the Vidyalaya, right from class VI to XII, besides all staff. It was captivating to watch the Prime Minister handling the queries deftly and giving pragmatic and feasible solutions to tide over the exam crisis and come off with flying colours. The programme has indeed been quite inspiring and boosted the morale and confidence level of our students.

The 31st Annual Day of the Vidyalaya was celebrated on 05/01/2018. Sh. Mohammed Y Safirulla IAS, the Hon’ble District Collector and Chairman, VMC was the chief guestof the function. Dr. Susan George, Principal, M A College of Engineering, Kothamangalam, Mrs. Beena Benny, President, Grama Panchayath ,Kavalangad, Mr. A J Ulagannan, Vice President, Grama Panchayath ,Kavalangad and Mr. Ashok Kumar, PTC Executive committee member were the other guests who graced the occasion. Mrs. Remani K , Vice- Principal gave the welcome address. Mrs. R Stella Hebzi Bai, Principal presented a detailed Annual report highlighting all the activities happened in the academic year. Sh. Mohammed Y Safirulla IAS , the chief guest of the function inspired the students by exhorting them to make best use of their time. Dr. Susan George advised the students to realize the value of education and to become good citizens. Mrs. Beena Benny, Mr. . A J Ulagannan and Mr. Ashok Kumar also spoke on the occasion. The proficiency trophies for Academic toppers, trophies for National participants in Sports and Games, trophies for CCA Champions, cash prizes for AISSCE-2017 toppers were given away by the guests. The District Collector honoured the collective efforts of various teams by giving away all the rolling trophies including that of Cock House. The formal meeting was followed by colourful entertainment programs. The show started with a Shadow art is keeping with the tradition of the Vidyalaya. The students thoroughly entertained the audience with their mellifluous singing, graceful dancing and absorbing acting prowess . It was a hectic day packed with fun, laughter, astounding artistic displays, moments of pride and honour for all the staff and students.

The Vidyalaya celebrated Christmas on 18/12/2017 and 19/12/2017 with great pomp and show. The students of class XI took the lead and took up many colourful activities to electrify the atmosphere. There was a procession on 18/12/17 evening. The carol group sang lively songs with Santa Claus’s auspicious presence and visited all staff quarters. The children have taken great effort to decorate the ponds, crib, snowmen water fountain etc. The light arrangement in front of the school and M P Hall was awesome. They also captivated the audience with variety of entertainment program. There was a formal cake cutting by the Principal and Vice-Principal. Principal also gave a message by urging the students to do their bit for the betterment of humanity by becoming better human beings. It was a great day of energy and exuberance for one and all.

The 31st Annual Athletic meet was celebrated on 17/12/2017 in the Vidyalaya auditorium. Principal Smt. R Stella Hebzi Bai extended a formal welcome to the guests. Mrs. Beena Benny, Grama Panchayath President hoisted the flag and received the honours of parade. Mr. Augustine Mathew CI, Kothamangalam declared the meet open.Shri. A J Ulagannan, Vice Presisident, Grama Panchayath was yet another guests of honour. Mrs. Lovely K Mathew, PET(female) presented the detailed sports report of the Academic year 2017. The contingents enthralled the audience with their spectacular display of aerobic shows and athletic events. The march past was the major attraction of the entire show.It was a memorable day of celebration and display of house spirit at its best.

The Panel Inspection of the academic year 2017-18 was held on 30th and 31st October 2017. Mr. Prabhakar B, Asst.Commissioner, Mr. Pankajakshan, Principal,JNV Thrissur, Mr. Balakrishnan, Principal JNV Palakkad and Mrs. Jeny Jose, Vice Principal, JNV Kollam have visited the school in connection with the conduct of Panel Inspection. The panel members were happy regarding the smooth functioning of the Vidyalaya. A cultural program was also organized in the evening in honour of the inspection team.

The process of online registration for JNVST-2018 has been initiated in collaboration with Common Service Center under Ministry of IT and the registration is in progress. However, many reports are being received regarding the difficulties faced by the parents/ candidates about online registration. To tide over this difficulty, it has been decided by NVS to provide offline mode of Application also. 1. The existing provision of registration through CSC will continue till the last date of receipt of application i.e. 25th November 2017. 2. Meanwhile such of those parents/candidates who find it difficult to apply online may apply through offline mode for which a separate application form is enclosed in download link. 3. The parents/ candidates may submit the application verified by tile Head Master to the JNV of the district concerned on or before 25th November, 2017. 4. JNV will provide due acknowledgement for the same to the parent/candidate. 5. However, the candidates who have already registered through CSC need not submit another application through offline mode.

Online application for the Selection Test for the admission of students in Class –VI at JNV Ernakulam for the year 2018 started on 25-09-2017.Online application can be uploaded through the COMMON SERVICE CENTRE (CSC) located in different parts of Ernakulam district. The list of CSC can be obtained from our website (www.jnvernakulam.org). For uploading application through CSC, the following items are needed 1. A certificate in the prescribed format (format available in the download link) signed by the parent and counter signed by the Head master of the School, where the candidate is studying in class V. 2. Passport size photo of the candidate. 3. Signature of the parent and the candidate. 4. Aadhaar Number. 5. Mobile phone for getting the OTP. The common Service Centre will collect a fee of Rs.35/- for uploading the application form and Rs.10/- for downloading the Hall Tickets. Eligibility Criteria 1. The candidate should be studying in class -V in Government Recognized School in Ernakulam District during 2017-18. 2. The candidate should have passed class III and IV from Government Recognized Schools during 2015-16 and 2016-17. 3. They must not have been born before 01-05-2005 and after 30-04-2009. Last date of online application: 25-11-2017 & Hall Tickets can be downloaded from 25-12-2017. Examination Date: From 11.30am to 1.30 pm on 10-02-2018 at different centres of Ernakulam District.

The biggest harvest festival of Kerala was celebrated with much pomp and show at JNV Ernakulam on 30/08/2017. The celebrations were coordinated by the students of Class XII. A grand “Pookalam” was prepared by the students under the guidance of Sri. Seathu, Art Teacher. The cultural extravaganza consisted of Pulikali, Karyilappottan, Chendamelam ,Nadanpattu and Thiruvathirakali . The school staff and students enjoyed the traditional fete in its real fervor. At noon a delicious feast was served to all in the mess hall. Several fun games were organized in the post lunch session which concluded with the Tug of War. The Vidyalaya Principal gave away prizes to the winners of the events. In her addressshe said that Onam is a festival that harmoniously blends people irrespective of their differences

Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Neriamngalam, Ernakulam(Dt) feels proudly privileged to host the Twenty Ninth Cluster Level Games for the vidyalayas of the 09 districts of Southern Kerala from 21 to 22 of August 2017. 348 young and promising players from JNVs of Alappuzha , Ernakulam,Idukki,Kollam,Kottayam,Pathanamthitta,Thiruvananthapuram Thrissur and Palakkad representing the Ernakulam Cluster participated in the two days long meet to prove their skill and get selection to the Regional Games of Hyderabad Region to be held at four different JNVs of the Region from27 to 28 of August 2017. Selection trials were held for the games of Basketball, Football, Volleyball, Handball and Shuttle Badminton.

A plantation drive was organized in the Vidyalaya under the leadership of Scout and Guides as part of Independence Day celebrations 2017. Considering the diversity of plants involved, their medicinal value and association with Nakshatras, many organizations are popularizing the creation of Nakshatravanam. Our vidyalaya also took the initiative of planting 27 sacred plants related to the 27 Nakshatras of Indian astrology. The Principal inaugurated the drive by planting the first sapling. Teachers and students participated in the drive with enthusiasm. The Scouts and guides of the vidyalaya took an oath to take care of the sacred grove.

The 71st Independence Day was celebrated on 15 Aug 2017 at JNV Neriamangalam in a befitting manner. A cleaning drive was organized on the previous day by which the school and its premises got a new look in decorations and flags.The Principal hoisted the national flag on 15.08.17 at 8:00 am. The ceremony was attended by all the staff of the vidyalaya. Everyone saluted the flag and then sang the National Anthem. It was followed by the Flag Song. The students spoke on the importance of the day in Malayalam, Hindi and English. Patriotic Poems and Songs were recited by the students.Short films on Quit India movement and Azzadi 70were also shown to instill national fervor in the growing minds.In her Independence Day message the vidyalaya principal told about the sacrifice of the martyrs for freedom. She said that our freedom is very precious and it should be preserved. She exhorted the students to follow the ideals of the great people like Mahatma Gandhi, Nehru, Subhash Chandra Bose etc. and advised the students to become ideal citizens of the country.The ceremony concluded with sweet distribution to the children and staff.


Theatre is a strong means of communication. To nurture and enhance the performance skills of its pupils, JNV Ernakulam, organized Inter-House One Act Play Competition on 21.07.2017. The four houses named Aravali, Nilgiri, Shiwalik and Udaygiri executed their imaginative and innovative ideas on the stage and literally electrified the spectators with their moving enactment of plays on various themes. The programme was inaugurated by the vidyalaya Principal. The judging panel comprised Sri. Vipin Sreekumar, Sri. Dinanath and Kumari. Athira, Eminent Theatre artists. The first place was bagged by the Udayagiri House which staged the famous play Thamkom by Vaikom Mohammed Basheer. The audience really got enthralled on the scintillating performance of the students. The Shiwalik House performed on the theme of the inextricable relationship between Time and Humans. The play secured the second place and the best actor award. Master. Vishnu Vijayan, Class XII was declared the best actor for his role as the old man in the play. Thunnal , the intertwining of human relations was the theme of Arawali house which reflected the significance of the bond between humans. Kumari. Dency Kuriakose, Class XII turned out to be the best actress for her role in the play as the wife of a burglar. The play won a lot of applause due to the catching performance and synchronization of ideas. Justice, the enactment of a plot on the prevailing system of corruption was staged by the students of Nilgiri House. The setting and background of a court of law was executed meticulously paying attention to all the aspects of a temple of jurisprudence. The vidyalaya Principal congratulated all the participants and teachers for their active and sincere implementation of the plays. She also said that the innate potentials of all the children must be tapped at the right time for its effective use in the society.

The third international Yoga Day was celebrated in JNV Ernakulam in a befitting manner. The programmes commenced at 7.15 am with the morning assembly. All the staff and the students assembled in the Multi-Purpose Hall and the yoga session began with the chanting of Shanti mantra from Thitariya Upanishad. Pranayama and other assanas were demonstrated by the students of Class IX. All the members of the vidyalaya family took part in the programme with a zeal and enthusiasm. Kumari. Milkha George and Ku. Aparna Anna Binoy of class XI spoke on the history, origin and practice of yoga for the wellbeing of every individual. The Vidyalaya Principal Smt. Stella Hebzi Bai addressed the gathering and spoke on the need and significance of Yoga in everyman’s hectic schedule. She remarked that Yoga must be an integral part of our life giving relief and reinforcement to us. After the morning assembly all the students and staff gathered in the play ground for the practice of Yoga. Under the guidance of the Physical Education teachers, the students performed several yogic steps and Asanas. The programme concluded with a prayer song and pledge to practice Yoga.

A farewell function was arranged on 12/06/2017 to honour two of our staff members, who were moving out on transfer to different Vidyalayas. Mrs. Sornalatha Vice-Principal was transferred to JNV Calicut and Mrs. Soly P A was transferred to JNV,Valpoy. Both of them have rendered good service at JNV, Ernakulam for a long span of time. In appreciation of their meritorious service, the Vidyalaya staff club arranged the formal send off party and presented them with mementoes.

A heart warming felicitation was arranged to honour the teachers by the PTC Executive Committee in recognition of the stellar performance of JNV, Ernakulam in the CBSE Exam-2017. The PTC Executive Committee congratulated the principal and staff on their remarkable achievement and gave away commendation greeting cards to all the teachers. Sweets were also distributed by PTC on this joyous moment. JNV,Ernakulam is thankful to PTC for their noble gesture in acknowledging the hardwork and service rendered by staff.

A Book exhibition of Newlight Publishers was organised in Jnv Ernakulam on 10/06/2017. A plethora of books on various fields such as General Knowledge , Language building, Subject Enrichment, Competitive Examinations, Fiction and Non Fiction were kept for display to the delight of book lovers. It being a parents day,many parents along with their wards visited the Exhibition Hall and purchased books of their choice. It was indeed a feast day for the voracious readers of JNV Ernakulam.

The world environment day was celebrated in the Vidyalaya on 05/06/2017 in a befitting manner. A special assembly was held to highlight the need to safeguard nature. The following competitions were held emphasising the theme of the year “Connecting people to nature” and the winners were awarded with certificates and prizes. In extempore Malayalam first prize-Vishnu Vijayan ; Second Prize-Vinaya Happy. In painting competition (Juniors), First Prize- Gayathri Anand; Second Prize-Amarnath P M. In Senior category- First Prize: Varsha N S ; Second Prize- Ardra V Kannan. In Quiz competition(Juniors), First Prize -Parvathy Prasad ; Second Prize –Parvathy Antharjanam. In Senior category, First Prize- Anandhu Jayan; Second Prize-Sarath S. Moreover, plantation drive was also taken up and class-wise planting of fruit bearing saplings was carried out by the Principal, Vice Principal, Class teachers and Students.

In the recently published CBSE results of class X and XII, JNV Ernakulam has registered splendid performance. In class X, of 81 students who appeared for the Board Examination, 40 secured A1(91 % & more). The school average is a staggering 9.49 (CGPA) out of 10. The school stands first in the entire Hyderabad Region , comprising 73 schools situated in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Telungana ,Karnataka and Kerala. In class XII, out of 70 students who took the Board Exam in March-17, 33 bagged 90% and more. Master.Akshay C Pradeep topped the science stream with 479/500 and Kumari. Aneeta Eldhose, the commerce stream with 477/500.The vidyalaya stands fourth in the Hyderabad region with a class average of 87.45. Besides, Kumari.Haritha A R is the National topper in Economics with a stupendous performance of scoring 100 out of 100. The co-ordinated efforts of the team JNV, Ernakulam have yielded such a remarkable feat in Borad Examination.

The Vidyalaya celebrated its 30th Annual day with great pomp and show on 21/01/2017 in the MP Hall. Mr.M G Ramachandran , RDO, Muvattupuzha was the Chief Guest and Dr.Sojan Lal, Principal MBITS, Nellimattom was the Guest of Honour. The Band Group of the vidyalaya gave the guests a grand welcome. Mrs.Sornalatha, Vice-Principal extended a formal welcome to the gathering. Mrs.Stella Hebzi Bai, Principal presented a detailed Annual Report highlighting the achievements of the vidyalaya. The Guests educated the students about the need to be ambitious and the essentiality of having a goal in life to reach great heights. Mr.Vinu Benny, PTC Executive Committee member gave an inspiring felicitation address. Colourful variety entertainment programs followed the formal meeting and the prize distribution ceremony. Many parents come to the Vidyalaya to witness their wards’ performance. The audience was delighted to watch programs such as Shadow Art, colourful dances, Skits, Songs, Naadan Paattu etc.

The football team of JNV took part in the St. Stephen Trophy tournament in January 2017 held at Keerampara. The Team made the semifinals and it received the ‘BEST FAIR PLAY TEAM’ award for their disciplined play in the contest. Master.Ashbin Raju received a trophy for securing the position of the second best left wing player.

Panel Inspection of the academic year 2016-17 was held on 15th and 16th of December 2016 headed by Mrs.Anasuya, Assistant Commissioner, Hyderabad. The members of the panel team were Shri.Vikraman Nair, Principal, JNV Alleppey, Smt. Gouri Lakshman, Vice Principal, JNV Kollam and Shri. Jose Kirian, Vice Principal, JNV Idukki. After a thorough inspection of various areas, the panel was happy about the smooth functioning of the Vidyalaya.
